About

Sitara Ibrahimbayli is a Baku-based multimedia artist and curator. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Moscow Biennale, MOMENTUM in Berlin, and the 55th and 56th Venice Biennales, including The Great Game at the Iran Pavilion. In her practice, Ibrahimbayli critically engages with women-centered narratives, with recent projects dedicated to researching, documenting, and reactivating disappearing women-led crafts in Azerbaijan, positioning them within contemporary artistic discourse.

Since 2018, she has been the co-founder and Creative Director of VarYox Art and Culture Platform, the first Azerbaijani bilingual (Azerbaijani/English) art platform. VarYox is promoting social and artistic activism while archiving contemporary art practices in Azerbaijan.

She is also a lecturer at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts and, since 2024, co-founder of the Her Art in Action Festival, which provides a platform and builds networks for local and international women artists.
